Osteria Lavagnini entices at The Social Hub

Osteria Lavagnini has opened its doors inside The Social Hub Lavagnini (accessible from viale Filippo Strozzi 20 and viale Spartaco Lavagnini 70-72) as a culinary destination for locals and travellers alike. Through a carefully curated redesign, the restaurant breathes new life into the ground-floor spaces opposite the Fortezza da Basso gardens.

The osteria offers simple traditional dishes in a sociable setting that is Florentine and internationally inspired, in keeping with its signature style.

The walls are adorned with a thoughtfully arranged collection of framed artworks, while archival photographs of the building and iconic Florentine symbols are displayed alongside pieces that celebrate wine culture. At the heart of the plant-filled space stands a striking deep green bar counter that serves a dual purpose: a wine bar featuring carefully curated labels and a deli counter showcasing fresh Tuscan cured meats and cheeses.

Notable names include Fèlsina, Capezzana and Il Borro’s organic selections, with Prosecco Bio La Tordera and Valdobbiadene Conca D’oro for when bubbles are required. A selection of whites, rosés, orange and natural wines ensures an ample offering to complement the menu that ranges from Tortelli Mugellani or guinea fowl ragù to meats from Le Selve di Vallolmo di Poppi, a farm in Casentino, and specialties like Pecorino Croccolo or BRIAcacio di pecora, aged in alcohol and raisins.

In Italy, cuisine is never just about the food; it’s a question of culture. With nearly twenty different ways to describe a place to eat and drink, from vinaio to trattoria, osteria was chosen to reflect the historic meaning as a place dedicated to wine, which over time has evolved to include simple, well-made dishes, all within a welcoming and homely environment. Open daily for lunch and dinner, except Sunday, the goal is to connect both locals and residents of The Social Hub through the universal language of taste, all with traditional Tuscan conviviality at the centre
