A new edition of Belong & Explore was held on September 25 at the Officina Creativa Lab by Artex – Il Conventino Fuori le Mura in Florence.
The initiative brought together 35 students from UNICOLLEGE and Istituto Marangoni, with the goal of fostering meaningful interaction between Italian and international students in a practical, creative setting.
Throughout the day, participants had the opportunity to collaborate with local artisans and explore traditional Florentine techniques, including:
• Leather craftsmanship with @pelletteriarobertamasetti
• Leatherworking and fashion with @manufattofiorentino
• “Reejensiamo” upcycling workshop with @vittoriavalzania (Madame Flo)
• Bijoux design and creation with @florrubajajewelry
• Lost-wax casting techniques for jewelry with @paolominiati
Thanks to this unique format, students from different backgrounds were able to apply skills from their academic studies in a hands-on environment—experimenting with traditional methods that blend art, craftsmanship, and culture. Working side by side, they shared ideas, perspectives, and creative approaches while discovering the artistic heritage that defines Florence’s artisan identity.
The event concluded with a convivial toast at Conventino Caffè Letterario, a moment for students to exchange impressions, build new connections, and celebrate the experience together.
Through initiatives like this, Belong & Explore continues to build bridges between cultures and knowledge, showcasing the excellence of the territory and strengthening the bond between students and the city of Florence.
A special thank you to Artex and to all the artisans who took part, making this enriching and inspiring experience possible.
