On Tuesday, November 26th, the fourth edition of Italian Knowledge Leaders took place at the Campidoglio. This event, organized by Convention Bureau Italia with the support of CRUI and the Ministry of Tourism, celebrates Italian intellectual capital and its contribution to the country’s growth as a hub of congress excellence.
This year, two new awards were introduced: the First National Prize for the “Most Sustainable Congress” and the “Most Inclusive Congress.” We are thrilled to announce that our very own Convention Bureau won the award for the Most Sustainable Congress, alongside our esteemed colleagues from Firenze Fiera and OIC Group.
The award was granted for the 6th edition of the World Landslide Forum, a congress held in Florence in 2023 thanks to the joint efforts of the Florentine team, in collaboration with the University of Florence. The event was highly attended, with 1,200 delegates from 69 countries worldwide. A special thanks for this success goes to the Forum’s president, Professor Nicola Casagli, who was recognized as a Florence Ambassador in the same year for this very event.
Sustainability was a priority from the outset, starting with the event’s title and theme (geology applied to landslides), which is closely tied to the environment and its preservation. Thanks to its legacy, the development of a national plan on hydrogeological instability is currently underway, along with the creation of an “Open Learning” UNESCO project for landslide risk prevention.
